A proposal to concretise ideas, supported by research, for a final design revolving a given theme that reflects students’ understanding and interpretation of global issues and design aesthetics.
Task:
- The general theme is “Living with Nature”.
- Conduct research about the culture of the place you are going to visit. - Define and interpret the theme in relation to that culture and from your point of view as a designer in the contemporary world. You may make comparison to Malaysian culture if that enables you to express better. - Produce some preliminary ideas on how to visually express your interpretation. Each idea is to be supported by a short rationale. - Conduct visual research to help expand your idea generation.
Objectives:
- To demonstrate the ability to conduct research pertinent to the design process. - To employ effective communication skills. - To engage in critical thinking in solving problems. - To incorporate team spirit in learning.

Through project 1, I have acquired discipline specific knowledge as I am able to understand the ethical issues in the context of the field of study in relation to given theme of the project. Secondly, I have acquired lifelong learning as I can locate, extract and utilise information effectively by researching information related to Korea culture and synthesis my own design statement afterwards. Thirdly, I have acquired communication skills as I am able to communicate well with my teammates to come out with the proposal idea regarding the task to do.
