This assignment requires you to document the project management aspects of your Architectural Design Project. The report shall reflect your understanding in the terminologies, knowledge areas, application of the tools and systems planning whilst demonstrating your capabilities in discharging your duties as an Architect. In this assignment, you are required to investigate and analyze the roles and responsibilities of a client, project manager, project teams (which consist of consultants in various fields) and other stakeholders involved in a project life cycle. The final report must clearly state the project objectives while understanding the strategies to achieve a satisfactory project completion & goals.
Objectives:
1. To understand the roles of the different consultants (Project Team) & different stages of work relevant to typical construction industry project.
2. To analyze design suitability and project viability.
3. To understand the application of management techniques in the control and direction of project resources.
4. To analyze the dynamic changes which occur during a project’s life cycle and the nature of a project’s success.
5. To demonstrate means of evaluating and managing risks that can lead to success and failure in a project’s performance.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Explain the professional roles of the Project Team, including the range and scope of project activities & describe the different stages of work relevant to typical construction industry project.
2. Justify design suitability and project viability using Site Analysis, PESTLE and SWOT methods.
3. Analyze Project Management tools and techniques to control and communicate.
4. Summarize strategies on the changes, which occur during a project’s life cycle in response to the client's objectives.
5. Compile a framework of risk management to achieve a common goal.
Tasks:
1. In groups of 5, you are required to introduce your Architectural Design Project brief and general proposal.
2. Study the job scopes and responsibilities of the Architect as the lead consultant as well as the project team members involved, preparation of project schedule and implementation strategies of the project.
3. Compile information and analyze the project from the point of view of an Architect.
